چکیده
For much of the past decade, imaging spectrometry has been primarily a research tool. With the recent appearance of commercial airborne hyperspectral imaging systems, and the impending launch of satellite-based sensors, imaging spectrometry is poised to enter the mainstream of remote sensing. As hyperspectral images become commonly available, both applications and users of the imagery will become more diverse. Many more researchers, professionals, and students from different disciplines will require the knowledge and tools to understand and interpret the information in hyperspectral images.

Calibration and Vegetation Field Spectra Collection for the 2000 Aviris Hawaii Deployment
Introduction As part of the April 2000 AVIRIS Hawaii Deployment, two researchers from UCSB were sent to Hawaii to collect supporting field data. The primary goal of the fieldwork was to obtain spectra of bright targets to be used for retrieving surface reflectance from AVIRIS imagery. Secondary goals included recording the spectra of dominant vegetation, marking the position of homogeneous land...
متن کاملHyperspectral Imagery: A New Tool For Wetlands Monitoring/Analyses
PURPOSE: This technical note demribea the spectral and spatial characteristics of hyperspectral data and the potential application of these data for wetlands studi~ and monitoring applications. The advantages and disadvantages of these data for wetland evaluations are discussed. Spectral signatures extracted tim data squired by NASA’s collected Airborne Visible/Infked Imagery Spectrometer (AVIR...
متن کاملSpectral Dimensionality and Scale of Urban Radiance
Characterization of urban radiance and reflectance is important for understanding the effects of solar energy flux on the urban environment as well as for satellite mapping of urban settlement patterns. Spectral mixture analyses of Landsat and Ikonos imagery suggest that the urban radiance field can very often be described with combinations of three or four spectral endmembers. Dimensionality e...
متن کاملComparison of Hyperspectral Aviris and Landsat Tm Imagery for Estimating Burn Site Pine Seedling Regeneration Densities in the Central Plateau of Yellowstone National Park
Knowledge of seedling regeneration in burn sites is a valuable aspect of ecosystem monitoring. Remote sensing methods are ideal for such monitoring since large spatial extents can be monitored at multiple time scales. The goal of this project was to asses how well hyperspectral AVIRIS data can discriminate the differences between seedling densities in postfire regenerating sites, as compared to...
متن کاملMeasurement of water colour using AVIRIS imagery to assess the potential for an operational monitoring capability in the Pamlico Sound Estuary, USA
The monitoring of water colour parameters can provide an important diagnostic tool for the assessment of aquatic ecosystem condition. Remote sensing has long been used to effectively monitor chlorophyll concentrations in open ocean systems; however, operational monitoring in coastal and estuarine areas has been limited because of the inherent complexities of coastal systems, and the coarse spec...
